What is eIDAS Regulation?
eIDAS (Electronic Identification, Authentication and Trust Services) is an EU regulation, or a set of standards that went into effect on September 17th, 2014 and became mandatory and wholly adopted regulation in all EU member states since July 2016. This regulation aims to ensure the legal effectiveness of all electronic transactions and its admissibility as evidence in legal proceedings. This helped many businesses to go digital with the same legal standing as transactions that are carried out on paper. eIDAS defines three categories of eSignatures, including Electronic Signatures (ES), Advanced Electronic Signatures (AES) and Qualified Electronic Signatures (QES).
